Black Caviar Lightning tips and best of the weekend

The Moody On The Mic team has tipped a handful of horses to win Saturday’s Black Caviar Lightning.

The Group 1 dash over 1000 metres takes place at Flemington tomorrow (4:50pm AEDT) and there are plenty of chances in the field of 11.

Peter Moody, Roger Oldridge, Anthony Mithen and Tom Hackett have all assessed the race and put forward their early selections.

Tips for Flemington Race 8 (4:50pm AEDT)

Lightning Stakes

Peter Moody

“I’m with the Coolmore form. The three three-year-olds down the outside.

“Written By, Lean Mean Machine and Sunlight. I want to see them in the yard first.

“But Written By has been a favourite and he’s got the run under his belt where the others haven’t.”

Roger Oldridge

“I like Sunlight. I think she’s a quality horse.”

Anthony Mithen

“I’m Osborne Bulls. Never been beaten first-up. A strong horse will absorb the pressure and be strongest late.”

Tom Hackett

In Her Time. At $5.50, I think she’s really well-placed here.

“She is the proven Group 1 sprinter in this field and does fly first-up. She’s the proven commodity here, while the three-year-olds have to make the step up to open class.”

The team also gave their best for elsewhere around the country on Saturday.

Best of the weekend
