Race 1 – This was CONQUER THE STARS first success at a distance below 1350m. He was just allowed to go at his own pace in front not slow but just even and he proved too strong. Not sure this form will be much good going forward.

Race 2 – Nothing really went right for CHICO MILAGRO. Caught wide early with Maloney riding the favorite to get cover, Baylee had no choice but to press on and sit off the leader. This took its toll late but he was able to hold on and win still. He also bled from both nostrils adding further merit to his performance. HEARTS LIFTED is ready to win now but possibly over a little further than 1200m.

Race 3 – Huge win this by FISTICUFFS. With PARKO slightly sluggish early he didn’t go as fast as he usually would. It was looking like a train wreck for Ryan Maloney as he elected to stay underneath MITTERE as he wasn’t going anywhere but just well enough for Jimmy to close the door on straightening so he switched course to follow ONE STRYKE and got clear with less than 100m to go. A lesser horse would have struggled to pick the leaders up.

Race 4 – SAFEWORK was rewarded for his consistency here breaking through for a much deserved win.

Race 5 – GUNTANTES was disappointing here but I feel they rode him a pair or 2 too close. Jostling with the stablemate and working 3 wide early for a spot wouldn’t have helped either. He needs to be ridden with more patience. ZIEMBA was ridden with patience and buried them late.

Race 6 – This was a slowly run affair. CANAPES got into the perfect spot and easily outsprinted FACTORY WARRIOR. A couple of horses ran well here considering the circumstances. ALPINE DANCER hasn’t been going as bad as his form reads and he had everything against him here. BLACKLOG totally unsuited back to a mile and just a tick over run until the in-form Morrisey finds a suitable 2200m race for him. His record suggests that he also prefers the sting out of the surface so that is something to consider when he pops up next.

Race 7 – This was a one act affair. TORYJOY was really stoked up early and they ran along as a result. Unfortunately I didn’t see this coming and the horse that this was going to suit from the back half in running was going to be SKATE TO PARIS. She nearly beat THE CANDY MAN at her last start so it was no surprise to see her win with such authority with the race run to suit.

Race 8 – Sustained speed here by THE ODYSSEY who pinged out and never looked like getting run down as his main dangers were just too far behind him. BANDIPUR was a huge run from the back here. 1200m next start will be much more suitable.

Race 9 – Very slowly run race here which didn’t help the winner HUMBOLT CURRENT nor my selection ALIFEROUS. Have to forgive her here as the lack of tempo meant she only got warm the last 200m and she has flown home. I’m suggesting a bigger track and back distance with a genuine tempo can see her breakthrough. ROMAKASH was unlucky here and should have finished closer. It was a return to some form for him after a couple of ordinary runs so I’d be happy to follow him next time out especially if Larry stays on him.
