EAGLE FARM REVIEW - MARCH 21ST

Racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday was on a Good 4 with the rail at 9m. The track is looking a little tired at the moment to say the least. The inside didn't look great to me.

Race 1 - Pace was very fast.

Not a great deal to take away from this race but there is one horse who I've been keeping an eye on for a couple of runs and is going well enough to feature in a finish soon if placed right. That is CHAMPAGNE VEGA. Ridden quietly here and weaved through traffic late. Went very well for mine. He is better suited in QLD and up in distance perhaps at BM70 level could see him competitive.

Race 2 - Pace was very slow.

Slowly run race here and after knocking up 2nd up MISHANI EPIC showed significant improvement. Sprinted hard and fast off the slow tempo and was very strong the last 400m. I feel he will definitely get a mile.

Race 3 - Pace was even. Typical Brisbane Saturday staying contest.  I thought this race was very thin on chances and the winner quite obvious. Was easily backable each way and had his day here. Nothing to follow.

Race 4 - Pace was even. Hard to knock the winner. In form for an in form stable. Withstood pressure on his outside, found gears when Brad Stewart asked which allowed him to get off the inside and out of the inferior section of the track closer to the rails. The horse to follow which was also the each way bet in the race is definitely the runner up SPENDING MY TIME. Just too short for him and Fradd had not much choice but to come through the inferior part of the track and did well under the circumstances. Placed right under ideal conditions he can feature soon.

Race 5 - Pace was slow. Nothdurft on Get Stuck In dominated in front here and that was the end of the story. SALSONIC doesn't win often but ridden negatively early and finished off well. Did come the best part of the track thanks to the steer but could have definitely finished closer under better circumstances.

Race 6 - Pace was very slow. Slow pace for a 1000m race and not much to take away. I do feel MODELKA wasn't suited going up in grade back to 1000m with the tempo against having to also come through the inferior part of the track. All first prep for her is a slight query going forward but you'd have to trust the Edmonds camp if they send her around again.

Race 7 - Pace was slow. Star Of Michelin pretty much had this wrapped up with 300m to go and won well. He is a good horse but I'll be trying to look around him next start as I do feel he'll most likely be unders. Bit of a Dee Day Diva fan. Worst part of track run here back on the inside. I do feel her best is likely 1400m and you would have to be saying now how many more times can you go to the well with her? That was her 6th run this prep. My patience had been wearing thin with Beachbreak before her maiden win prior to this start. Can perhaps go back in grade now but she is a low percentage horse for mine and not ideal to keep following. Ideally freshened back in distance she could be value.

Race 8 - Pace was even. PLITVICE is absolutely having a career best preparation. I would love to see him freshened up and back to 1400m. Slow Hands went well again but is unbackable for mine.

Race 9 - Pace was very fast. Tango Rain went hell for leather here. The horse I want to follow from this was an on pacer. ASHMAN was first up here in a class 6 as a class 5 horse. He is going to be better suited back to Doomben over 1350m where he can dictate from in front.
