IPSWICH REVIEW - 18TH JULY3 weeks ago
Race 1 – Bit of a farce this was. Bangers And Mayo was allowed to dictate with no pressure. NICKS had zero momentum until the race was over and IGOR was very good from the back. Both looking for a big track.
Race 2 – Huxtable went handlebars down here on Aqua Vite carrying under the mimimum and it nearly paid off. Something had to come from the back and the way the race was run suited the winner BAREFOOT perfectly. Not a great deal of takeaway.
Race 3 – Well he finally found his race FIGHTING TEO. Left alone in front as forecast and they couldn't run him down. SIR BARNABUS was huge from the back as he could never win and got within a length of doing so. Well seasoned now to go back in distance.
Race 4 – Great tactics to let the first 2 go here and take a sit on LANGHRO who was strong 1st up. They may have found the key to him riding him a touch quieter and I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him kept to 1000m-1200m events. I feel this race will be decent form going forward. TAWFIQ BOY ran very well and after missing the start THE TAX ACCOUNTANT was huge.
Race 5 – WREN'S DAY finally broke through here thanks to a perfectly timed ride from Andrew Mallyon. Fradd dictated on Potro Duro until Du Plessis on Right Or Wrong had a gutful and took off at the 600m. Could have easily panicked Mallyon but he kept his cool and trusted his horse who was the superior animal. This will be good form going forward. POTRO DURO the horse with the most upside. ELIXIR continues to run out of his skin.
Race 6 – MADDI ROCKS got the luck here that she didn't have 1st up at Eagle Farm to win. Stablemate VOILA reacted to the blinkers hammering home from last back to 1200m. She is probably looking for a big track. The likes of ALL SHIRAZ who continues to run well out of her grade & KITTY DAMOUR who stuck on very well doing it tough here 2nd up can both be competitive down in grade back to the midweeks or provincials.
Race 7 – BOOMSARA stiff not to win here after a tactics change up riding him quiet with so much pressure in the race. Nearly paid off for them. DEEP IMAGE the horse to follow for mine. Very brave here and back distance from that draw he was always going to be in a world of pain. Sat 3 deep outside the speed and was only beaten 0.9L with top weight.
Race 8 – Stuttering continued his great form with another deserving win here. The run of the race here for mine was clearly ROMAN AUREUS. He really looks like he will get further than 1400m now, he does everything right. Would love to see him on a big track.
Race 9 – This was an on pace dominant event for the girls and a very even race. Not a great deal doing. Forgiving SKATE TO PARIS as she got a mile back and was never in it. Just put a line through the run. There was a very good run from a horse well on the way up and out of its grade here in SUNDAY SASSY. She had more to give late with zero room and the big field around this circuit wouldn't have suited her like many others.
