The Sultan's Randwick Review March 7

Race 1

FASIKA was pressured a touch early, but was advantaged by the inside run. Winning fresh on wet over 1200m isn’t easy though and she is smart, will pay to follow. RESIN is ready to win 3rd up same grade. Copped some interference when trying to get out and I thought her run was good.

Race 2

FARNAN absorbed some pressure early in the race, running a quicker F600m split than Fasika in the previous and running good overall time. He is the rightful Slipper favourite and he is a trustworthy conveyance, with his only failure coming in the millions when he had some issues in the lead up. TAGALOA ran home in a R F L600m and if they go hard in the Slipper he can win, but for me he is far better suited in the Sires and Champagne.

HTF FARNAN rightful Slipper fave, TAGALOA 1400m+

Race 3

Exciting finish this, but worth noting that overall time just fair. DAME GISELLE was gutsy and arguably in the better ground, but SEE YOU SOON was 1st up at 1200m, so out of this SEE YOU SOON has to be the one to follow, but will need some favours in the Slipper. I think the Boys have the Girls covered this year.

Race 4

YOA DASH ran up to his trials - very poor! VILLAMI was far too good firing to the front and never stopping. COSMIC FORCE ran home hard and his L200m was particularly strong. He will take a tonne of improvement off that. Both are worth following.

Race 5

This one hurt. SAVATIANO was absolutely pestered up front, with Stewards questioning Declan Bates for his decision to press forward after missing the start. Subsequently, BEGOODTOYAMOTHER was beaten 15.7L. The best ride won this race and Nash gave THE BOSTONIAN an absolute peach. SAVATIANO worked, he took her back, peeled off late and was too strong. SAVATIANO is a clear forgive. She ran 10.86/10.76/11.13/10.97 from the 1200m to the 400m and still stuck on to gap the rest. Huge run in defeat and have to follow again - she’s flying.

Race 6

NATURE STRIP… What an enigma! If they put up $3+ of course he was a bet, but wasn’t at the shorts. Defied a huge drift to bolt in and run time. His best is unmatched. Just hard to catch! DEPRIVE was run off his feet. He can find a Group race out in trip and win. He closed off well despite not being able to keep up early on.

Race 7

As you’d expect, this will be a cracker of a form race. SHADOW HERO was given an absolute pearler from Parr and he’s a proper G1 animal. Rightful Rosehill Guineas favourite and if it’s dry, he will be even better. Have to forgive CASTELVECCHIO who was back and wide off a slow tempo and had to get going early in the slower ground. THE HOLY ONE was extremely strong late and his L600m was only bettered by the winner. He is outclassed at G1 level, but is ready to win if placed to win, but I’d say he goes to the G1 Rosehill Guineas - could be good place value. WARNING stamped himself as the Derby winner here. He clearly wants further but was strong late and his L100m was particularly strong.

HTF SHADOW HERO Rightful Rosehill Guineas fave, WARNING in the Derby, THE HOLY ONE

Race 8

SHARED AMBITION was the class act here and won with relative ease. He ran 33.96 for his L600m and he can be followed anywhere he goes. SUPERNOVA peaked late, but was good considering he was first up to 2000m.

Race 9

Given the pattern of the day, NETTOYER was HUGE here! Made enormous ground late in a clear R F L200m. She may well be a G1 mare this prep, because this was a sensational win. SAVACOOL felt the whip at the 600m and kept coming, follow to 2000m. ALIFEROUS ran a R F 4-200m split before peaking. She’s desperate for 2000m. GAYATRI was utterling bolting! Went to the line under a severe hold! Could get a price next start.
