The Sydney Review Feb 27

WATER DOVE - missed the start first go in the blinkers and that was the difference. Had to do too much early work to kick up and hold her spot. Similar race 1000m/1100m can follow

LAST CHANCE DANCE - Race F 4-200m split but peaked. Too far back from the gate. Softer gate/wet track/sprint trip he can win again.

HILAL - Clear R F L600m and he is looking for 1400m now.

CAPTIVANT - Improvement to come from the yard and is likely looking for dry tracks off this.

THINK IT OVER had the run, but to beat a field of sprinters first up bodes well for a good prep incoming for a horse that gets 2000m

ALL SAINTS EVE unlucky. Had to come off heels and weave up the inside. Out too late, top return. Follow to Mares grade.

CRIARDERAS ran the F L600m of the entire meet, but he does that virtually every start. His pattern is an absolute punters nightmare and his flashing light runs means he regularly goes around under the odds next start.

KRONE is in her groove after mixing her form. Settled 2nd last next to Emeralds and left her for dead. Race run to suit, but ran past them like they were standing still.

ICEBATH looking for 1600m. Settles 3 wide no cover outside the two leaders and both those leaders punctured. Good for further and fitter again.

What a race! VERRY ELLEEGANT, what a superstar! Just refuses to give up in a fight. Outstanding ride from JMac to put her in the race at the 600m and make it that fight she loves. AVILIUS had her back in the run, but didn’t see this coming. R F L6/4/200m. Is he back? Would want to see again, but he gave them fitness! MASTER OF WINE a pass for longer, but not if it’s against Verry Elleegant. She’s right on track. COLLETTE very good, only going to get harder to beat the winner from here on.

REALM OF FLOWERS - if GREAT HOUSE is $13 for the Sydney Cup, then why is she $26? She had a softer run and he peaked late from too far back, but she was very strong late and through the line after a flat spot and her run was also somewhat sustained. Not saying she is the same class, but it was a very similar style run to Vow And Declare from the Caulfield Cup prior the his Cup win. It just screamed 3200m. She went to the paddock a narrow runner up in the 3200m Sandown Cup as a lightly raced Mare. Handles wet, right on track.

SKY LAB - zero luck, forgive. Should have featured.

BOUND TO WIN - sick beat. As good as they go (relevant to class) without winning. Winner led, she was too far back and covered a stack of ground on straightening. Run of the race by a long way, stiff. Top return.
