The Sydney Review July 25

Inside was inferior even at the 8m rail. Predicting a pattern here is a nightmare.

Race 1

Horrible fall. RIP HOT ‘N HAZY, and wish a speedy recovery to Andrew Adkins. Convinced BRAVADO will be the best horse out of this. Inconvenienced by the fall, he picked back up to hit the line hard, running the 8th F L200m OTD. Huge effort. If he strikes a dry track, look out. Forgive basically everything in this.

Race 2

Cracking ride by Glyn and FREEHEARTED weaved a passage for a nice win. Bunched finish, but JAY JAY DAR hit the line hard. She wants a good track.

Race 3

Again, ZAKERIZ was very brave and beaten by one with a much softer run. DELAYED RESPONSE went around held up/untested again. BAJAN GOLD was good, watch in longer. GROUP THINK held up/unlucky.

Race 4

EDUARDO absorbed some heat early and all honours. ROHERYN was unlucky, with having to come off heels likely costing him the win, but the winner was VG and a deserved winner. GLENALL had a nice run and wasn’t in the best going. He was good for similar.

Race 5

Brilliant ride on KORCHO and he was dominant. He could have a future in some better races, as he will improve lengths on a good track. REZELIANT was the eye catcher! Home in the 7th F L200m OTD. Good going over 2400m, regardless of the slow tempo. Was the only thing that settled back to make any significant ground. Really come of age this prep, can win at this trip soon.

Race 6

DANCING GIDGET found the best part of the track, but plenty of merit in the performance and her L200m was particularly strong. 1600m yes. Forgive TRAVEST. Dictated to and forced back inside to the worse going.

Race 7

Win of the day here and by some way from MUGATOO. From reports, his parade was absolutely awful, and he’s still run past a field of fit Stakes class horses off one soft trial. Could be anything! TAIKOMOCHI stuck on well. Wait for 2000m.

Race 8

YOU MAKE ME SMILE put the handlebars down and this was a fast run race. Unfortunately, that meant PRIME CANDIDATE had to absorb that heat and with the weight, coupled with the rain arriving, didn’t help his causes. NEW KING was a hidden run. He clocked a nice 4-200m split before being eased down late. Decent run for one that wants longer and may be suited on firmer ground.

Race 9

PLEASANT managed to cross PARTNERS and may have cost him the win, as he’s better suited dictating the tempo and being rated. Did have his chance though and the best horse won in VARDA. 3/3 this prep and airborne. HE’S A HOTSHOT absolutely steamed home out wide in the 2nd F L4/200m splits OTD. He is DESPERATE for a firm surface!

HTF HE’S A HOT SHOT if he strikes a Good track
